STATE OF TEXAS §
COUNTY OF DALLAS §
AFFIDAVIT OF LORA CASAS §
1. My name is Lora Casas. I am more than eighteen (18) years of age, of sound mind,
and am wholly competent to sign this Affidavit. I have personal knowledge of
the facts stated in this Affidavit, and they are true and correct.
2. Mariana Casas is my sister. Mariana used to date Jerry Ramirez Gonzales. Jerry
Ramirez Gonzales has a brother named, Armando Gonzales. I have recently reviewed
photographs and have identified Jerry Ramirez Gonzales as the man that my sister,
Mariana, used to date, and have identified Armando Gonzales as his brother.
3. On the night that a woman was killed at the Jolly Roger convenience store in
Littlefield, Texas, Jerry and Armando Gonzales stopped by my apartment in
Littlefield at around 2:00 a.m. I lived at the XIT apartments in Littlefield.
The Jolly Roger convenience store is on the same main street as my apartment.
It is about a 20 to 30 second drive from where I lived to the Jolly Roger store.
4. At around 2:00 a.m. on the night of the murder at the Jolly Roger convenience
store, Jerry and Armando Gonzales came to my apartment and asked to borrow money
from me. My sister, Mariana, and my cousin, Tina Martinez, were at my apartment
that night when Jerry and Armando Gonzales arrived.
5. Jerry Gonzales was the one doing most of the talking that night. The brothers
told me that they were coming from another town and did not have enough gas to
make it back to their home in Levelland. I was certain that they were high from
smoking marijuana and drinking beer. Jerry Gonzales was very rude to me, and
Armando Gonzales talked to me in a very angry tone of voice.
6. I refused to give them any money. Armando Gonzales got very angry and demanded
to know why I would not loan them any money. He did not want to take no for an
answer. I saw Armando reach under his t-shirt several times. It looked as if he
was adjusting a gun under his t-shirt. I thought that they might try to rob me.
They kept demanding money from me to buy gasoline and beer.
7. I got very angry with the two of them. I told them that I would not loan them
any money and then told them that if they had money earlier in the day to buy
marijuana and beer, they should have thought about saving some of it to buy gas
for their car. Jerry and Armando Gonzales were very angry with me. They left my
apartment when I refused to give them any money.
8. While they were at my apartment, I could see that Armando and Jerry Gonzales were
both wearing jeans and t-shirts. Jerry Gonzales had long hair in the back. I
could also see that Jerry and Armando were driving a gold car that night.
9. I am certain about the night that the Gonzales brothers showed up at my apartment
because the following afternoon, at around 1:00 p.m., when I woke up, I heard the
news that a lady working at the Jolly Roger convenience store had been killed
during a robbery. When I heard that police were looking for two men, 18-22 years
of age, and driving a gold car, I immediately began to think that the police were
looking for the Gonzales brothers. Later, however, someone told me that there were
two gold cars involved in the robbery and one had a New Mexico license plate. I
did not think about the Gonzales brothers anymore because I just assumed that the
men who killed the lady had to be someone else because the Gonzales brothers were
both in one gold car when they arrived at my apartment that night, not two. I had
always been under the impression that the two men who robbed and killed the
woman at the Jolly Roger store were each driving a gold car.
10.I am certain that Jerry and Armando Gonzales stopped by my apartment in
Littlefield on the night of the murder at about 2:00 a.m. They were driving a
gold car and were desperate for money.
FURTHER, Affiant sayeth not.
