AFFIDAVIT OF SOFIA SOLIS MEDRANO
 
1. My name is Sofia Solis Medrano. I am more than twenty-one (21) years of age,
   of sound mind, and am wholly competent to sign this Affidavit. I have personal 
   knowledge of the facts stated in this Affidavit, and they are true and correct.
2. I was married to Jose Erlindo Medrano during the time that he and his brother 
   Randy Medrano were charged in August 1995 with the rape of a 12 year old girl 
   in Olton, Texas.
3. After Jose Medrano was released from prison on the 1995 rape charge we moved
   into the home of Jose's uncle, Pancho Medrano who at the time lived in Pharr 
   Texas. During the time that we lived at Pancho Medrano's house, Randy Medrano, 
   Jose's brother, would often stop by to visit with Jose.
4. On many occasions Jose and Randy would sit in the kitchen and drink beers and
   talk. Several times during these many conversations, I would hear Jose tell 
   Randy that he lied at the trial of Jesus Ramirez. I heard Jose tell Randy more 
   than once, that Ramirez never admitted anything to him. I heard Jose tell Randy 
   that he lied about Ramirez's confession so that he could have his sentence on 
   the rape charge reduced. Jose Medrano and I have since divorced.
