Convicted Murderers Could Get New Trial

Two Mexican nationals convicted in a 1996 Littlefield murder could get a new trial.

Friday, a Lubbock judge determined that Jesus Ramirez and Alberto Sifuentes had ineffective counsel and recommended the men get a new trial. It will be up to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to make that decision.

In 1998, the men were sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of Littlefield store clerk Evangelina Cruz.
